Episode 185: Shutter Island

It's time once again to let the mystery be, everyone. We're diving back in on our sequence of episodes covering the HBO series THE LEFTOVERS called #inthemourning, and as we begin our journey through Season 2, we're looking at a handful of films that deal with paradigm-shifting revelations.

Our first stop -- after a detour through Jarden, Texas with our gang in The Leftovers -- finds us tackling the legendary Martin Scorsese's only film that could be classified as a horror thriller. Leonardo DiCaprio plays a US Marshal sent to the remote Shutter Island to investigate a missing person from a psychiatric facility, but the conspiracies he uncovers there lead to one of the most harrowing personal revelations of his lifetime, and an opportunity for us to discuss the ways in which we think about ourselves and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are.
