Episode 163: The Shawshank Redemption

We close out our series of #differentseasons, ostensibly also saying goodbye to this year's continuing series of Stephen King material, #19, with arguably one of his most widely seen adaptations: THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. 25 years ago, this clunky-titled, period-piece-prison drama entered theaters to mediocre returns and only modest recognition. But thanks to continual word-of-mouth and a successful home video release, it rose to become the number 1 viewer-voted film on IMDB, and remains one of the most beloved films of all time.

We discuss this film's legacy, it's crucial message of hope -- which has more to do with Christmas than it may initially seem -- and how we all must face our own response to the mandate to "get busy livin'". It's a heartfelt close to the season this time around and we hope you enjoy it.
